If you are looking to upgrade your gimbal there are loads of choices! Here we are going to compare the DJI RS2 and RSC 2 for those of you that are looking to upgrade! These two gimbals are from DJI and we are testing the RS2 and the RSC 2. The RS2 is the more premium version with slightly more features but they are both great! So let’s have a look at some of their features side by side in this DJI RS2 Gimbal review.
Weight Comparison of RS2 vs Ronin S
The Ronin S was a little heavy especially when you are shooting difficult shots. But the new gimbals are 25% lighter than the previous model. So the RS2 encourages you to take those adventurous shots by being a little lighter and more convenient with easier to reach controls.
Follow Modes – New and Improved
The RS2 and RCS2 have 5 follow modes on the handle which is 2 more than the previous model. You can access them from the handle either on a touch screen (RS2) or a wheel toggle (RSC2).
RS 2 (Carbon Fiber Arms) vs RSC 2 (Non-Carbon Fiber Arms)
The new carbon fiber arms of the RS2 make the gimbal stronger and lighter. The adjustment of the arms also is a lot smoother because of the arm construction. On the RSC2 you will feel slightly more friction when balancing the arm as it is not out of carbon fiber, but it is still better than the old model!
Quick Release System
Both units use a dual-layer quick release system.

Titan Stabilization Algorithm Test Footage
This feature is an upgrade to the stabilization algorithm of the previous generation. It gives you the ability to use a 100mm lens on the gimbals and still get stable results. The results of testing show that it is definitely an improvement but then again no stabilization is perfect.
Using Sony A7S III Gyro Stabilization for Ultimate Smoothness
The testing camera the SONY A7SIII has a built-in stabilization algorithm that could make your shot even more stable combined with your gimbal. This help especially with the RSC2 there was a visible smooth result for my test shots.
RSC 2 Flexible Handle Grip
The RSC2 has a handle that can bend for more innovative shots and holding positions. This will encourage many people to get really inventive with their shots and how they hold on to the gimbal.
Nato Port Accessories
The NATO port accessories include an extra handle for better grip and holding positions. There is also a cellphone holder for your mobile.
RavenEye Wireless Video Transmitter
The wireless HDMI transmitter allows you to use your cellphone for an extra angle of view if you are working with shots that require it. The RavenEye worked well with little latency and drop frames.
ActiveTrack 3.0
Using the RavenEye you can also use the ActiveTrack feature on the gimbals. This is the first time it has been integrated with the wireless video transmitter. Tracking is now on the image from your camera and not from your phone as before.
Focus Control of Camera
The focus controls are the same for both the RS2 and the RSC2. They have a wheel control in the front of the handle which you can easily use with just one hand. The wheel makes focus control quite simple.
Time Lapse and Motion Control
The RS2 has a unique feature to control your time-lapse and motion control from the touch screen on the handle. It also gives you the automatic track function with the new features as you can see in the video.
The battery of RS 2 vs RSC 2
RS2 has a removable handle with a battery on the inside. It does last for about 12 hours but if you are going to shoot for longer then make sure you have an extra handle nearby. The RSC2 handle does not come off so you must make sure that you are fully charged every day. The RSC 2 does support fast charging.
RS 2 Universal Base Mount
The removable handle of the RS2 allows you to mount the gimbal on a different kind of base. This gives you a host of mounting options for your RS2
Gimbal Travel Bags
Both the gimbals have a handy travel bag, but you might choose just to use your current travel bag for moving around.
Final Thoughts! Should you upgrade? Which gimbal is the best?
Both these gimbals get a solid recommendation! But make sure that you purchase the right one for your needs. Check out the features and confirm that you would be happy with the gimbal of choice. After this DJI RS2 Gimbal review, you should be well prepared to make a perfect choice.
